Going round and round 25 September 2009

Filed under: swing around — isay @ 1:02 pm

It was Amam and Vima’s first vacation for this year and Christine’s very first Visayas getaway. Val coincided his last day in Teletech in time for us to get home and bond with my brother. No definite plans were made for their visit. Amam just wanted to have a big break from his very hectic schedules and satisfy his appetite with my mom’s scrumptious home-cooked meals. For the 7 days they stayed here in Bacolod, we didn’t dine out in any restaurants. But Biboy treated us a delicious made-to-order rum pie which he secretly ordered a week earlier and picked it up upon Amam’s arrival last August 19.

His idea of a trip to Mt. Kanlaon Park through Rafael Salas Park and road trip to Dumaguete remained in our to-visit list due to time- and budget-constraints. Since they already visited Mambucal Resort in Murcia and The Ruins in Talisay during their vacation last year, Val and I suggested a photo shoot of nature in the town of Don Salvador Benedicto and they all agreed. My brother also developed a passion for photography only that he doesn’t have the time to go around and take the shots when he is in Manila.

All 6 of us left Bacolod for Don Salvador at 2pm last August 22, a Saturday. It was a cloudy but humid afternoon. We stopped in areas where we could find beautiful background to photo shoot.

The Talos Falls was our last stop before turning around. We didn’t reach the Choco Hills which can be seen along the highway in San Carlos City.

 curious to reach this falls

We dropped by Panaad Park and Stadium but the sky became dark and it started to drizzle so we pushed the visit the next day, Sunday.

It was past 2 pm when we arrived in Panaad Park. There is no entrance fee and everyone is free to take a walk or jog at the rubberized track oval. One can swim with a fee in any of their pools including an Olympic-sized pool but driving lesson is strictly prohibited in this area. This 25-hectare sports complex has been home to Panaad Festival and other sports related events with its 15,500-seating-capacity stadium. Creative booths of each city and municipality of Negros showcases the park area and this area becomes more lively during the Panaad Festival mostly displaying their delicacies and specialties.

There were just a few taking a plunge in the smaller pool and a couple of swimmers having some laps at the Olympic-sized pool so my brothers decided to go to Palmas del Mar Resort for a swim instead. It was much fun in Palmas because of their slide.

the slide is open until 5 pm

While they were enjoying the pool, Val and I went around to take pictures of the resort.
