It was 14th of February 1997 when Val revealed what he felt for me. He visited me at home and brought me a rose delicately placed inside a box. It was one of the most memorable days in my life. However, this year’s Feb. 14 was nothing special. He tried to buy tickets for our Valentine buffet dinner but his 3 choices of hotels were all fully booked a week earlier. He was tired from his shift (actually, he has been working for 14 hours daily for that week) plus the weather was not cooperating so we decided to move the celebration the next day.

Unlike my father, my mom is not an outdoor person. She had been to various malls and none of any theme parks. She would have been a plain housewife had not for my father’s disability. It was my father who brought us to zoo, resorts, arcades and theme parks. Nevertheless, I was glad she eagerly agreed to visit Manila Ocean Park after I told her that it was just at the back of Quirino grandstand. Lest, she would have said no without any second thoughts.

Valentine’s day is fast approaching. Red roses, teddy bears and other stuff in red are displayed everywhere. However, something unique caught my attention as I made my way to the restroom in Divisoria Mall.
Colorful cakes are carefully arranged on top of the other. There were several mini round cakes and slices of chocolate cakes. They came with their own cake toppers and imaginative accents. What makes them unique is that you can place them on your table without worrying for the ants to pest around it. They are not edible yet you can have them as long as you want with no expiration date.

My mom and I were in Quiapo waiting for a jeepney ride going home to Pureza last Wednesday. I confidently told my mom to look for SM Sta. Mesa direction. I remembered Vima particularly mentioned not to take the Pasig direction going home to Pureza but I forgot if it was from Divisoria or Quiapo. It could be brought about by aging or I just depend so much in my capacity to read or ask for directions. Haha!
