A majestic lunar new year’s eve dinner 28 January 2009

Off to Carbon we went last Sunday afternoon. Carbon market wasn’t a place to stroll leisurely. I was just curious of the place after hearing that it sells the cheapest goods. It was similar to Libertad market here in Bacolod and Divisoria of Manila. They have vegetable stalls along the streets or right outside business establishments. I don’t know how much the veggies cost but they look like they were fresh from harvest. It seems nice to buy the vegetables here.

We then proceeded to Ayala Center but didn’t go inside the mall. We went straight to The Grand Majestic at Cebu Grand Convention Center. We were 15 minutes early for their dinner buffet however one of the staff kindly lead us to an empty table and informed us that we could start ahead if we wanted to.

An ordinary day spent in an extraordinary way 26 January 2009

There was no special occasion to celebrate last Saturday. It was just an ordinary day spent with a special person in my life.

Salon visit

I met Val after his shift at Jollibee corner Mandaue and A.S. Fortuna Sts. We had some snacks before going to Ayala Center. I decided to finally cut my hair shoulder length – 2 to 3 inches shorter than its original length. I overheard a fellow customer in Salon de Rose that she was in Cebu for a week long vacation. It was her first time to be in Cebu and decided to coincide her vacation with the 9-day Sinulog Festival. However, they arrived on the last day of the grand celebration and missed out the other days of the festival.

Sinulog 2009 at a glimpse 26 January 2009

Jan 18 was my first Sinulog experience and the height of the celebration. It is Cebu’s commemoration of their patron saint Sr. Sto. Niño. A solemn religious procession is also held by millions of devotees in Honor of the Child Jesus.

I assumed we would have lunch at Val’s agent’s house before going around Osmeña circle so we left the house at 10 am. It was my first time to witness Sinulog and I wasn’t able to anticipate the throng of people waiting at the Mandaue highway for a ride.

Post holiday treats 8 January 2009

Val was supposed to take me to a post christmas and new year dinner at a cozy private place in Dove St. at Sto. Niño Village. I was in Bacolod for Christmas and he had his shift during New Year’s Eve.

We arrived at past 7 p.m. and only 2 of their 6 small tables were occupied. However, their remaining tables were marked reserved. Since it was just a very small place, they declined to accept more customers that night.
